Christmas Lunch with Sarah de Lagarde

Today, we had the honor of listening to Sarah de Lagarde from Janus Henderson at our fully booked Christmas lunch at At Six. Throughout the event, we had the opportunity to mingle, enjoy delicious wraps, and embrace the Christmas spirit with amazing “glögg” and chocolate treats. We were also fortunate to hear an incredibly interesting, inspirational, and touching speech from Sarah that provided us with valuable perspectives and left us with a profound sense of gratitude. Everyone who attended may be able to relate to long days and even missing the right subway station, although we have been lucky enough to not miss the gap on a rainy, slippery day.

Five Key Takeaways:

  1. You can accomplish more than you, and others, may think, whether facing the challenge of climbing Kilimanjaro or returning to work in four months after being hit by two trains.
  2. It is crucial to choose a workplace where you can be yourself. Not every workplace may fully respect and accept you, so select an environment with a culture that allows you to be authentic while still being respected and accepted. Everyone carries baggage, even if it’s not as visible as a robot arm and leg.
  3. When faced with unexpected situations, remember to stay calm. If plan A doesn’t work, proceed to plan B. If plan B fails, move on to plan C.
  4. Communication is key. Never underestimate the power of communication, both in the workplace and in your personal life, whether with family, friends, or strangers.
  5. Create a bucket list and make memories—today and tomorrow, not only plan for things in five years.

A big thank you to Sarah, Janus Henderson, and everyone who attended!
