Dear members,
The nomination committee is recruiting a few new board members this year and this is a great opportunity to express your interest!
What’s in it for me?
Being part of the board is a unique opportunity to learn or develop your board skills. It is also an active board, so you can develop your knowledge in many different dimensions including event organising, communications, web & IT, mentorship and how to build a mentorship programme, as well as understanding how to drive engagement in volunteer activities.
What types of board memberships are there?
There are two types of board positions at the KvinnoKapital board: ordinary board members and deputy board members. Formally, only the ordinary board members sign the annual accounts and they are elected for two years at a time. The deputy board members are elected for one year at a time. In practice, deputy board members serve in the same functions as ordinary board members and the time commitment is the same, except for the positions of Chair, Vice-Chair and Treasurer which are only allocated to ordinary board members.
The Nomination Committee is responsible for suggesting new members and for recommending the reelection of existing members whose term expires. In practice, the Nomination Committee makes the recommendation about the type of board membership (ordinary or deputy) for new members. Depending on the work, professional situation and board succession plan, deputy board members can become ordinary board members over time.
What is required to be eligible for the board?
Based on interviews with current board members, the nomination committee has established the following criteria for ordinary board member recruitment purposes.
- Several years of experience in the asset management industry, ideally with core responsibilities (e.g., investment management, distribution/sales, legal and compliance, ESG).
- A relevant professional network that supports the association’s mission.
- Availability to commit approximately 10 hours per month (or more) to the association’s work and event attendance and the ability to prioritise Board meetings above other extra-professional commitments.
The criteria for deputy board members are identical to those for ordinary board member but in addition:
- Deputy Board Members may also have less experience or be in more junior or peripheral roles within asset management or adjacent fields.
- If this is the case, they should demonstrate a commitment to learning, contributing, and developing within the association.
This year, the recruitment of both ordinary and deputy members will focus in particular on the enthusiasm and skills in the following areas: communications, web & IT, accounting (treasurer). Events is also an area that is in constant need of enthusiasm and availability.
We look forward to reading your applications!
