KvinnoKapital had the privilege to host an informal mingle around a glass of wine together with Leda Braga, CEO of Systematica, a quantitative hedge fund manager headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.
Originally from Brazil, Leda Braga has become an icon in the male-dominated hedge fund world. She shared insights on her career in hedge funds as a woman and as a mother. Esther Gonzalez, who is in charge of representing Systematica in the Nordics, told us about her firm’s culture.
While there are not many women in the quant space, Leda doesn’t consider this fact to be an issue. The firm is open to hiring both genders, but focuses primarily on the quality of the candidates. If it not many women make the cut, it is simply because there are not enough female candidates. Therefore, Leda is often solicited to inspire younger women to join a quantitative investment career.
